Perceptual Video Quality Prediction Emphasizing Chroma Distortions

Measuring the quality of digital videos viewed by human observers has become a common practice in numerous multimedia applications, such as adaptive video streaming, monitoring, and other TV applications. Here we explore significant, yet relatively unexplored problem: measuring perceptual on arising from both luma chroma distortions compression. Toward investigating this problem, it is important to understand kinds that arise, how they relate compression distortions, can affect perceived quality. We designed carried out subjective experiment measure introduced isolation well together. Specifically, new dataset comprises total $210$ afflicted caused varying levels quantization commingled with different amounts quantization. The scores were evaluated $34$ subjects controlled environmental setting. Using newly collected data, able demonstrate shortcomings existing models, especially regards distortions. Further, an objective model which builds algorithms, considering fidelity channels principled way. also found analysis implies there room for reducing bitrate consumption modern codecs creatively increasing factor channels. believe work will encourage further research direction, advance progress ultimate goal jointly optimizing encoders.
